Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 bunch Garlic Scapes trimmed and cut into 2-3 inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt or to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon Black Pepper freshly ground, or to taste

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the trimmed and cut garlic scapes with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Spread the coated garlic scapes in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Roast for 10 minutes.
  5. Remove the baking sheet from the oven, sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the scapes.
  6. Return the baking sheet to the oven and roast for another 5-7 minutes, or until the garlic scapes are tender-crisp and the Parmesan is melted and lightly golden. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
  7. Serve immediately as a side dish or appetizer.

Notes

Garlic scapes are the flower stalks of garlic plants. They have a milder, sweeter garlic flavor. If you can't find them, asparagus or green beans can be substituted, though cooking times may vary.
