Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats old-fashioned oats work best for texture
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt plain or flavored, your preference
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or non-dairy such as almond, soy, or oat milk
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds optional, for added thickness and nutrients
  • 1 teaspoon sweetener honey, maple syrup, agave, or sugar, adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional, for enhanced flavor

Equipment

  • Jar, bowl, or airtight container

Method

  1. In a jar, bowl, or airtight container, add the 1/2 cup of rolled oats and the 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt. If using, add the 1 tablespoon of chia seeds at this stage.
1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  2. Pour in the 1/2 cup of milk. This will help to soften the oats and create a smoother consistency. Add your chosen sweetener, starting with 1 teaspoon, and the 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract if you desire extra flavor.
1/2 cup milk, 1 teaspoon sweetener, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  3. Stir all the ingredients together until they are well combined. Ensure there are no clumps of oats or yogurt, and that the sweetener is fully dissolved. If you are using chia seeds, this step is crucial to prevent them from clumping together.
  4. Cover the container tightly with a lid or plastic wrap. Place it in the refrigerator and let it sit for at least 4 hours, but ideally overnight. This allows the oats to absorb the liquid, soften, and thicken, and the flavors to meld beautifully.
  5. In the morning, give your Overnight Oats with Yogurt a good stir. If it’s too thick for your liking, you can add a splash more milk to reach your desired consistency. Top with your favorite fruits, nuts, seeds, or a sprinkle of granola for added texture and flavor.
    1/2 cup milk

Notes

Best enjoyed cold straight from the refrigerator. Store in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. Freezing is not ideal for texture but possible.
