Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour (or Oat Flour for grain-sensitive pups)
  • 0.5 cup Unsweetened Applesauce (xylitol-free) xylitol-free
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (finely chopped) finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Mint Leaves (finely chopped) finely chopped
  • 1 Large Egg

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Wire rack
  • Cookie Cutters (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the unsweetened applesauce and the egg until well combined.
0.5 cup Unsweetened Applesauce (xylitol-free), 1 Large Egg
  3. Stir in the finely chopped fresh parsley and mint leaves into the wet mixture.
2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (finely chopped), 1 tablespoon Fresh Mint Leaves (finely chopped)
  4. Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) to the wet ingredients, mixing until a cohesive dough forms. If the dough seems too dry, add water, one teaspoon at a time, until it’s no longer crumbly.
1 cup Whole Wheat Flour (or Oat Flour for grain-sensitive pups)
  5. Lightly flour a clean surface. Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness. Using small cookie cutters or a knife, cut out your desired treat shapes.
  6. Place the shaped treats onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the treats are firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the Parsley Mint Teeth Cleaner Dog Treats cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing. This ensures they are firm and won't crumble.

Notes

Store cooled treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days. For longer storage, freeze treats in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 2-3 months. Thaw frozen treats at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Optionally, gently reheat in a low-temperature oven (around 200°F / 95°C) for a few minutes or in a microwave for a few seconds until just slightly warm.
