Ingredients

Tea Base
  • 4 cups Water
  • 4 tea bags Black or Green Tea High quality recommended
  • 1/4 cup Sugar or Sweetener Adjust to taste
Passion Fruit Flavoring
  • 1/2 cup Passion Fruit Pulp Seeds strained out, or use puree
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice
For Serving
  • As needed Ice Cubes
  • 4 Fresh Passion Fruits For garnish

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, bring 4 cups of water and the sugar to a boil. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat.
  2. Add the tea bags to the hot sugar water. Let the tea steep for 4 to 5 minutes. Do not over-steep, as this can make the tea bitter.
  3. Remove the tea bags and allow the tea base to cool slightly (about 10 minutes). Transfer the brewed tea to a large pitcher.
  4. Stir in the passion fruit pulp and the fresh lime juice into the cooled tea base. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness if necessary.
  5. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or until thoroughly cold. For immediate serving, fill glasses with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the chilled passion fruit iced tea over the ice. Garnish each glass with half of a fresh passion fruit, allowing the seeds to float on top for an authentic presentation.

Notes

For a bubbly variation, replace 1 cup of water with sparkling water after chilling. Fresh passion fruit provides the best flavor, but frozen puree works well if fresh is unavailable.
