- In a skillet over medium heat, cook one cup of lean ground turkey until it is thoroughly browned and no pink remains. Drain off any excess grease.1 cup cooked lean ground turkey
- While the turkey cooks, steam or boil half a cup of peas until tender, then mash them. Similarly, cook and mash a quarter cup of sweet potato until soft and easily mashable.½ cup cooked and mashed sweet potato, ¼ cup cooked and mashed peas
- In a medium bowl, combine the cooked and drained ground turkey, mashed sweet potato, and mashed peas.1 cup cooked lean ground turkey, ½ cup cooked and mashed sweet potato, ¼ cup cooked and mashed peas
- Stir in two tablespoons of plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt, one tablespoon of unsweetened pumpkin puree, and one teaspoon of unsweetened applesauce.2 tablespoons plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt, 1 tablespoon unsweetened pumpkin puree, 1 teaspoon unsweetened applesauce
- Blend all ingredients together until well combined. You can use a fork to mash any larger pieces or a food processor for a smoother consistency, depending on your dog's preference.
- Generously stuff the mixture into a Kong toy, ensuring it is packed tightly to make it more challenging for your dog to extract.
- Place the stuffed Kong toys on a flat surface in your freezer and freeze for at least 4-6 hours, or until completely solid.
