Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • ½ cup natural peanut butter xylitol-free
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Rolling Pin
  • Cookie cutters

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and baking powder. Whisk them together to ensure the baking powder is evenly distributed.
2 cups whole wheat flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder
  3. Add the unsweetened applesauce and natural, xylitol-free peanut butter to the dry ingredients.
1 cup unsweetened applesauce, ½ cup natural peanut butter
  4. Gradually add the water, mixing until a firm dough forms. You may not need all the water, or you might need a tiny bit more, depending on humidity and flour absorption.
    ½ cup water
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough to about ¼-inch thickness using a rolling pin.
  6. Use cookie cutters to cut out your desired biscuit shapes. Gently transfer the cut biscuits to the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the biscuits are firm to the touch.
  8. Turn off the oven, leave the door ajar, and allow the biscuits to cool completely inside the oven. This helps them crisp up nicely.
