Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the unsweetened applesauce, natural peanut butter, and eggs until well combined and smooth.1 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter (Xylitol-Free), 2 Large Eggs
- Gradually add the whole wheat flour and baking soda to the wet ingredients. Stir until a soft dough begins to form.2 cups Whole Wheat Flour, 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- If the dough is too dry, add water by the tablespoon, mixing after each addition, until it’s a pliable consistency that’s not too sticky.1/4 cup Water
- Lightly flour a clean surface and turn the dough out. Roll it out to about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thickness. Use your favorite cookie cutters (dog bone shapes are popular!) to cut out the treats.
- Place the cut-out treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
