Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour Be sure your dog doesn't have a wheat sensitivity.
  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter Look for brands with only peanuts and no added sugar, salt, or xylitol (which is toxic to dogs).
  • 2 Ripe Bananas, Mashed
  • 1/4 cup Water To help bind the ingredients together and achieve the perfect dough consistency.

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cookie Cutters (optional)
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and rolled oats. Stir them together until well mixed.
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour, 1 cup Rolled Oats
  3. Add the mashed ripe bananas and natural peanut butter to the dry ingredients.
2 Ripe Bananas, Mashed, 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter
  4. Stir everything together until a dough begins to form. It might be a bit sticky.
  5. Gradually add the water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough is no longer too sticky and can be handled. You want a firm but pliable dough.
    1/4 cup Water
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters of your desired shapes or simply cut into squares.
  7. Place the shaped treats onto the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the treats are firm to the touch and lightly golden brown on the edges.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the treats cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing.
