Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour the base of our treats, providing carbohydrates for energy.
  • 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter xylitol-free; packed with protein and healthy fats, promoting energy and a shiny coat.
  • 1 Ripe Banana mashed; a great source of potassium and natural sweetness, aiding in digestion and providing helpful pantothenic acid.
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce adds moisture and a touch of natural sweetness, contributing fiber for digestive health.
  • 1 Egg acts as a binder and provides essential protein and nutrients.
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder helps the treats rise and achieve a pleasant texture.

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl
  • Separate bowl
  • Wire rack
  • Airtight container

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a medium bowl, mash the ripe banana until smooth. Add the natural peanut butter and whisk in the egg and unsweetened applesauce. Mix until well combined and creamy.
1 Ripe Banana, 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter, 1 Egg, 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and baking powder.
1 cup Whole Wheat Flour, 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a sticky dough forms. If the dough is too wet, add a tablespoon more flour at a time. If too dry, add a teaspoon of water or applesauce.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. You can gently flatten them with the back of a spoon or your fingers. For a "twist" effect, you can roll small portions of dough into ropes and twist them before placing them on the sheet.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the treats feel firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Ensure they are fully cooled before offering them to your dog.
  8. Once completely cooled, store the peanut butter banana twist dog treats in an airtight container.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. For longer storage, freeze for up to 2-3 months.
