Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour (or Whole Wheat Flour for extra fiber)
  • 1 cup Unsweetened Peanut Butter (ensure it's Xylitol-free) Xylitol-free
  • 1/2 cup Low-Sodium Chicken Broth (unsalted and no onion/garlic) unsalted and no onion/garlic
  • 1/4 cup Grated Carrots (cooked and mashed) cooked and mashed
  • 2 Large Eggs beaten

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Cookie cutters
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the unsweetened peanut butter and the beaten eggs until well blended.
1 cup Unsweetened Peanut Butter (ensure it's Xylitol-free), 2 Large Eggs
  3. Stir in the low-sodium chicken broth and the mashed, cooked carrots into the peanut butter and egg mixture. Make sure everything is thoroughly incorporated.
1/2 cup Low-Sodium Chicken Broth (unsalted and no onion/garlic), 1/4 cup Grated Carrots (cooked and mashed)
  4. Gradually add the flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until a firm dough forms. You might need to add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky, or a tiny bit more broth if it's too dry.
2 cups All-Purpose Flour (or Whole Wheat Flour for extra fiber)
  5. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to shape the treats into fun designs for your dog.
  6. Place the shaped treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the treats cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This is important to prevent them from breaking apart while warm.

Notes

These treats are best served as a supplemental snack. Consult your veterinarian before introducing any new food.
