Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats (Cooked)
  • 1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter (Unsalted, Xylitol-free)
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce (No added sugar)
  • 1 Egg (Raw)
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (Optional, for a touch of natural sweetness)

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and honey (if using) until well combined.
1/2 cup Natural Peanut Butter, 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 tablespoon Honey
  3. Crack the egg into the wet ingredients and whisk until thoroughly incorporated.
    1 Egg
  4. Gradually add the cooked rolled oats to the mixture, stirring until a thick dough forms. It should be firm enough to handle.
    1 cup Rolled Oats
  5. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into ropes, about 1/2 inch thick and 4-5 inches long, resembling chew sticks. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the chew sticks are golden brown and firm to the touch. For a crunchier chew, you can bake them for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  7. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the Peanut Butter Oatmeal Chew Sticks cool completely on a wire rack before offering them to your dog.
