Ingredients

  • 2 cups Sweet Potato Cooked and mashed
  • 1 cup Natural Peanut Butter Ensure it is xylitol-free
  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour or Oat Flour for gluten-sensitive dogs
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1 Egg

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Cookie Cutters (optional)
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato, natural peanut butter (xylitol-free!), unsweetened applesauce, and egg. Stir until thoroughly mixed and smooth. The texture should be a thick, paste-like consistency.
2 cups Sweet Potato, 1 cup Natural Peanut Butter, 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 Egg
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) to the wet mixture. Mix until a stiff dough forms. You may need to lightly flour your hands to handle the dough.
    2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  4. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to create fun shapes, or simply roll small pieces into balls and flatten them slightly with your palm.
  5. Place the shaped treats onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they have a little space between them. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch. They should feel cooked through and not doughy.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This is crucial for texture and safety; warm treats can be a choking hazard.
