Ingredients

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Ensure it’s at room temperature for smooth blending.
  • 1/2 cup pepper jelly (your favorite flavor) Choose jalapeño, habanero, or even a sweet red pepper jelly for a unique taste.
  • 1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese Adds a tangy and savory depth to the dip.
  • 1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese Contributes to the melty, gooey texture and a mild, creamy flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives For a fresh, mild oniony bite and beautiful green garnish. Reserve a small amount for garnishing.
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley Adds a touch of herbaceous brightness and visual appeal. Reserve a small amount for garnishing.
  • Pinch cayenne pepper Optional: for extra heat. Add now if you like a spicier kick.

Equipment

  • Oven-safe baking dish or ramekin (about 6-8 inches in diameter)
  • Medium Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula or Wooden Spoon

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a small oven-safe baking dish or ramekin (about 6-8 inches in diameter).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, ensure your cream cheese is fully softened. This is crucial for achieving a smooth, lump-free dip. You can leave it on the counter for about an hour or gently microwave it in short bursts (10-15 seconds) if you’re in a hurry, being careful not to melt it completely.
    8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  3. Add the softened cream cheese to the mixing bowl. Pour in the pepper jelly. For a more integrated flavor, you can gently stir these together at this stage, but it's not strictly necessary as they will meld in the oven.
8 ounces cream cheese, softened, 1/2 cup pepper jelly (your favorite flavor)
  4. Sprinkle the shredded sharp cheddar cheese and Monterey Jack cheese over the cream cheese and pepper jelly mixture in the bowl.
1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  5. Add most of the finely chopped fresh chives and parsley to the bowl, reserving a small amount of each for garnishing the top later. If you’re using, add the pinch of cayenne pepper now.
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives, 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley, Pinch cayenne pepper
  6. Using a spatula or a wooden spoon, gently mix all the ingredients until they are just combined. You want to see streaks of pepper jelly and distinct cheese colors, not a completely uniform mixture. Overmixing can make the dip dense.
  7. Spoon the mixture into your prepared oven-safe baking dish or ramekin, spreading it out evenly.
  8. Sprinkle the reserved chives and parsley evenly over the top of the dip.
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives, 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley
  9. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly around the edges and the cheese is melted and slightly golden brown on top. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.
  10. Carefully remove the Pepper Jelly Cheese Dip from the oven. Let it sit for a minute or two before serving. It will be very hot.

Notes

Leftover dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.
