- Ensure your plain Greek yogurt is well-chilled. This is crucial for achieving the perfect whipped texture. If you’re using a stand mixer, make sure the bowl and whisk attachment are also cold.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chilled Greek yogurt, powdered sugar (or your chosen sweetener), unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt. Start with the specified amount of powdered sugar and you can always add more later to suit your sweetness preference.2 cups full-fat plain Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Using an electric mixer (handheld or stand mixer with a whisk attachment) on medium-high speed, whip the mixture for about 3–5 minutes. You're looking for a smooth, fluffy, and lighter consistency than the original yogurt. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure everything is incorporated evenly.
- Add the pure peppermint extract to the whipped yogurt mixture. Begin with 1/4 cup and whip again until fully combined. Taste the mixture and add more peppermint extract, a teaspoon at a time, until you reach your desired minty intensity. Be careful not to add too much at once, as peppermint can be quite potent.1/4 cup pure peppermint extract
- Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks using a spatula. You want to distribute them throughout the mixture without overmixing, which could cause them to melt or break down too much. A few extra chocolate chips are always welcome for an extra burst of chocolatey goodness.1/2 cup mini chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks
- Spoon the Peppermint Chocolate Whipped Greek Yogurt Bliss into individual serving bowls or glasses. For an extra special touch, garnish with additional chocolate chips, crushed candy canes, or fresh mint leaves.as needed crushed candy canes, as needed fresh mint leaves, as needed extra chocolate chips
- For the best flavor and texture, cover the bowls and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully and the yogurt to firm up slightly, creating an even more delightful eating experience.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Texture may become denser, stir to revive. Freezing is not ideal for texture but can be done for up to 1 month; thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
