Ingredients

For the Peach Simple Syrup
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen peach slices If using frozen, do not thaw.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
For the Lemonade
  • 1.5 cups fresh lemon juice Approximately 8-10 medium lemons.
  • 4 cups cold water Adjust for desired strength.
  • 1/2 cup Peach Simple Syrup Adjust to taste.
  • 6-8 thin slices fresh peaches For garnish.

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare the Peach Simple Syrup: Combine the peach slices, sugar, and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture just begins to simmer. Turn off the heat, cover, and let it steep for 15 minutes to infuse the peach flavor.
  3. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean container, pressing down gently on the solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids. Allow the syrup to cool completely.
  4. In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, 4 cups of cold water, and 1/2 cup of the cooled Peach Simple Syrup.
  5. Stir the mixture thoroughly. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding more syrup, or tartness by adding more water or lemon juice.
  6. Serve immediately over ice, garnished with fresh peach slices and a lemon wheel.

Notes

For a fizzy version, replace 1 cup of cold water with club soda or sparkling water. This lemonade is best enjoyed the day it is made, but the syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
