Seasoning & Aromatics
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste based on broth salinity
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Chives Finely chopped, for garnish
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg Freshly grated

Method
 

Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, bring the chicken or vegetable broth to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and butter to the simmering broth. Cook for 1 minute until the butter is melted and the garlic is fragrant.
  3. Slowly whisk in the instant Cream of Rice Cereal in a steady stream to prevent clumping. Continue whisking constantly until the mixture thickens, which usually takes about 3 to 5 minutes for instant varieties.
  4. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the milk (or cream), salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix well until fully incorporated and the consistency is creamy.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese until it is completely melted and smooth, creating a rich, cheesy texture.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve immediately while hot, garnished with fresh chives.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, sauté the garlic in the butter for 30 seconds before adding the broth. If the mixture becomes too thick upon standing, stir in a splash of warm milk or broth to reach the desired consistency.
