Simple Homemade Dog Food Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey or chicken Cooked and drained
  • 1 cup cooked brown rice Soft and fluffy
  • ½ cup carrots Steamed or boiled, finely diced or pureed
  • ½ cup green beans Steamed or boiled, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon salmon oil or coconut oil Unscented
  • 2 tablespoons plain, unsweetened pumpkin puree Not pie filling

Method
 

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook your lean ground turkey or chicken until thoroughly browned. Drain off any excess grease to keep the food lean and healthy for your dog.

  2. While the meat is cooking, steam or boil your brown rice, carrots, and green beans until they are tender. For easier digestion, dice the carrots finely or even puree them, and chop the green beans.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked and drained ground turkey or chicken with the cooked brown rice.

  4. Gently mix in the steamed or boiled carrots and green beans. Stir in the tablespoon of salmon oil or coconut oil and the unsweetened pumpkin puree until everything is well incorporated.

  5. Allow the mixture to cool completely before serving to your dog. This prevents any risk of thermal burns and ensures the meal is at an enjoyable temperature.
