Dry Ingredients
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Optional Toppings
  • 1–2 tbsp chocolate chips or other desired toppings

Equipment

  • Microwave
  • Large Mug (12 oz)
  • Fork or Small Whisk

Method

  1. In a large mug (at least 12 oz), combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well with a fork or small whisk.
  2. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Gently fold in chocolate chips or desired toppings, without overmixing.
  4. Microwave on high for 60–90 seconds until the cake is set and the top is no longer wet. Time may vary depending on your microwave's power.
  5. Carefully remove the mug from the microwave. Let cool for 1–2 minutes before serving. Top with additional toppings if desired.

Notes

To avoid dryness, don't overcook. Try with different toppings like sprinkles, peanut butter chips, or a drizzle of caramel.
