Course: Dog Food
Cuisine: Homemade

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Ground Turkey Cooked
  • 1 cup Canned Pumpkin Puree Plain, Unsweetened; Cooked or raw
  • 1/2 cup Cooked White Rice Plain
  • 1/4 cup Cooked Carrots Mashed or finely diced
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil Uncooked

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Large Bowl
  • Saucepan (for reheating)
  • Airtight container (for storage)
  • Freezer-safe bags or containers (for freezing)

Method

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground turkey, breaking it up as it browns. Continue cooking until it is fully cooked through with no pink remaining, about 8-10 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.
    1 pound Ground Turkey
  2. While the turkey is cooking, ensure your white rice is cooked and fluffy, and your carrots are cooked until tender. You can steam, boil, or microwave the carrots. Mash the cooked carrots or chop them very finely, ensuring they are easily digestible.
1/2 cup Cooked White Rice, 1/4 cup Cooked Carrots
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground turkey, plain canned pumpkin puree, cooked white rice, mashed or finely diced cooked carrots, and olive oil.
1 pound Ground Turkey, 1 cup Canned Pumpkin Puree, 1/2 cup Cooked White Rice, 1/4 cup Cooked Carrots, 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  4. Stir all the ingredients together until they are well combined. The mixture should be moist and have a consistent texture.
  5. Once cooled to room temperature, your Simple Turkey Pumpkin Dog Food is ready to serve! You can cool it completely before storing.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze individual portions for up to 2-3 months. Gently reheat before serving.
