Ingredients

  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour or Oat Flour for grain-sensitive dogs
  • 1/2 cup Natural, Unsweetened Peanut Butter xylitol-free
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1/4 cup Water or more, as needed

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Medium Bowl
  • Wire rack
  • Cookie Cutter (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the natural peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and the egg until well combined and smooth.
1/2 cup Natural, Unsweetened Peanut Butter, 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 Large Egg
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) to the wet ingredients. Mix until a stiff dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water, one tablespoon at a time, until it’s manageable but not sticky.
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour, 1/4 cup Water
  4. Lightly flour your hands or a clean surface. Roll the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter (or a knife) to cut out desired shapes. Alternatively, you can roll small portions of dough into bite-sized balls and gently flatten them.
  5. Place the shaped cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the cookies are firm to the touch yet still soft in the center.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Ensure they are completely cool before serving to your dog.
