Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the natural peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and the egg until well combined and smooth.1/2 cup Natural, Unsweetened Peanut Butter, 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 Large Egg
- Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) to the wet ingredients. Mix until a stiff dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add water, one tablespoon at a time, until it’s manageable but not sticky.2 cups Whole Wheat Flour, 1/4 cup Water
- Lightly flour your hands or a clean surface. Roll the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter (or a knife) to cut out desired shapes. Alternatively, you can roll small portions of dough into bite-sized balls and gently flatten them.
- Place the shaped cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the cookies are firm to the touch yet still soft in the center.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Ensure they are completely cool before serving to your dog.
