Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl, thoroughly mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add the natural peanut butter and unsweetened applesauce to the mashed banana and stir until well combined into a smooth mixture.2 medium Ripe Bananas, mashed, ½ cup Natural Peanut Butter (xylitol-free), 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Applesauce
- Crack the large egg into the wet ingredient mixture and whisk it in until fully incorporated.1 large Egg
- In a separate large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour and uncooked rolled oats. Stir them together to distribute evenly.1 cup Whole Wheat Flour, ½ cup Rolled Oats (uncooked)
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing with a spoon or spatula until a thick, slightly sticky dough forms. Don’t overmix; just ensure everything is combined.
- Take small portions of the dough (about a tablespoon each) and roll them into balls. Flatten each ball slightly with your palm to create a cookie shape. Alternatively, you can use a small cookie scoop. Place the formed treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes. The treats should be lightly golden around the edges and firm to the touch but still soft.
- Once baked, remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool completely on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack to finish cooling. This step ensures they develop their soft, chewy texture and are safe for your dog to enjoy.
