- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, combine the mashed cooked sweet potato, unsweetened applesauce, and xylitol-free peanut butter. Stir until well blended and smooth.1 cup mashed cooked sweet potato, ½ cup unsweetened applesauce, 2 tablespoons unsweetened peanut butter
- Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) and ground cinnamon to the wet mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.2 cups whole wheat flour, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Lightly flour your hands and roll the dough into small balls, about ¾ inch in diameter. Place them about an inch apart on the prepared baking sheet. You can gently flatten them with the palm of your hand or the bottom of a glass.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the treats are firm to the touch but still soft in the center.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your dog.
Notes
Store cooled treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 2-3 months.
