Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and rolled oats until well combined.1 cup Whole Wheat Flour, 1/2 cup Rolled Oats (uncooked)
- Add the finely chopped cooked spinach, finely chopped fresh parsley, unsweetened applesauce, olive oil, and lightly beaten egg to the dry ingredients.1/2 cup Cooked Spinach (finely chopped), 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley (finely chopped), 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 2 tablespoons Olive Oil, 1 Egg (lightly beaten)
- Stir everything together until a cohesive dough forms. If the dough is too dry, gradually add water, one tablespoon at a time, until it’s moist enough to handle. Be careful not to make it too sticky.1/4 cup Water (or as needed)
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use cookie cutters of your desired shape and size to cut out the treats.
- Carefully place the cut treats onto the prepared baking sheets, ensuring they are spaced about 1/2 inch apart.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch. Baking time will vary slightly depending on the thickness and size of your treats.
- Remove the baking sheets from the oven and let the spinach parsley healthy dog treats cool on the sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Ensure they are completely dry before storing.
