Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sweet Potato Cooked and mashed
  • 0.5 cup Blueberries Fresh or frozen (thawed)
  • 0.5 cup Whole Wheat Flour (or Oat Flour for gluten-sensitive dogs)
  • 0.25 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil melted

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the mashed sweet potato, blueberries, melted coconut oil, and the egg. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
1 cup Sweet Potato, 0.5 cup Blueberries, 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil, 1 large Egg
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) and rolled oats to the wet ingredients. Stir until a thick, workable dough forms. It should be sticky but manageable.
0.5 cup Whole Wheat Flour, 0.25 cup Rolled Oats
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each chew. You can gently flatten them with the back of the spoon.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the chews are firm to the touch.
  6. Allow the chews to cool completely on the baking sheet before offering them to your dog. This ensures they are fully set and safe to eat.

Notes

Store leftover chews in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-5 days. For longer storage, freeze portions in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 2-3 months. When ready to serve a previously frozen chew, allow it to thaw completely in the refrigerator. If you prefer a slightly warmer treat, you can gently reheat a single chew for a few seconds in the microwave, ensuring it is not hot before giving it to your dog.
