Ingredients

Mashed Cooked Sweet Potato
  • 1 cup Cooked Sweet Potato Mashed or pureed without any added sugars, spices, or butter.
Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 cup Cooked Pumpkin Puree 100% pure pumpkin, not pie filling.
Oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup Oatmeal Uncooked rolled oats are best.
Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce With no added sugar or xylitol.
Coconut Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil Melted and pure, virgin.
Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon With no sugar added.

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed cooked sweet potato and the pure pumpkin puree. Stir until they are well incorporated and form a smooth, uniform mixture.
1 cup Cooked Sweet Potato, 1 cup Cooked Pumpkin Puree
  2. Gradually add the oatmeal to the wet mixture. Stir until the oatmeal is evenly distributed throughout the sweet potato and pumpkin base.
    1/2 cup Oatmeal
  3. Add the unsweetened applesauce and the melted coconut oil. Mix everything thoroughly until a cohesive dough-like consistency is achieved. The mixture should be moist but not overly sticky.
1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
  4. Stir in the ground cinnamon. This adds a gentle, warming flavor that most dogs find appealing.
    1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  5. Take small portions of the mixture (about 1-2 tablespoons, depending on your dog's size) and roll them into compact balls between your palms. Aim for a texture that holds its shape.
  6. Place the formed sweet potato pumpkin balls for dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up. This step is important for maintaining their shape.
