- Prepare the Peach Simple Syrup: Combine 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and chopped peaches in a small saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Reduce heat to low and let it steep for 5 minutes.
- Remove the syrup from the heat and allow the peaches to infuse for an additional 5-10 minutes. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a jar, pressing gently on the solids to extract all liquid. Discard solids and let the syrup cool completely.
- Prepare the Lemonade Base: In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and 4 cups of cold water.
- Whisk in 1 cup of the cooled peach simple syrup. Taste and add more syrup as needed to achieve the desired balance of sweet and tart.
- To serve, fill glasses with ice. Pour the lemonade over the ice. Garnish with thin lemon slices or fresh peach wedges, if desired.
Notes
For an adult version, add 1 ounce of vodka or white rum per glass before serving. The syrup can be made up to one week in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
