Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl. Add the cooked and mashed sweet potato, whole wheat flour (or alternative), unsweetened applesauce, xylitol-free peanut butter, and egg.1 cup Sweet Potato, cooked and mashed, 1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour, 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 Tablespoon Natural Peanut Butter, 1 Egg
- Mix until a firm dough forms. Stir the ingredients together thoroughly until they come together into a cohesive dough ball. If the dough is too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time. If it's too dry, add a teaspoon of water or applesauce.
- Roll out the dough and cut shapes. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use your favorite cookie cutters to create fun shapes for your treats. You can also simply roll the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly.
- Place treats on a baking sheet. Arrange the cut-out or shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes. Bake until the edges are golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch. They should sound slightly hollow when tapped.
- Cool completely. Once baked, remove the treats from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack before serving them to your dog. This is crucial to prevent burns.
