Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1/2 cup Rolled Oats (uncooked)
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup Peanut Butter (natural, xylitol-free) Crucially, ensure it contains NO xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/4 cup Water or more, as needed

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Dog-bone shaped cookie cutters
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and rolled oats until well combined.
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour, 1/2 cup Rolled Oats (uncooked)
  3. Add the xylitol-free peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and egg to the dry ingredients.
1/4 cup Peanut Butter (natural, xylitol-free), 1/4 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 large Egg
  4. Gradually add the water, mixing until a stiff dough forms. You may need a little more or less water to achieve the right consistency.
    1/4 cup Water
  5. Lightly flour a clean surface and your rolling pin. Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use your favorite dog-bone shaped cookie cutters to cut out the treats.
  6. Place the cut biscuits onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing. This ensures they are safe and easy to break apart.

Notes
