Ingredients

  • 1 cup 100% Pure Pumpkin Puree (not pie filling)
  • ½ cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • ½ cup All-Purpose Flour (or a gluten-free alternative like oat flour or almond flour)

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the 1 cup of 100% pure pumpkin puree and the ½ cup of unsweetened applesauce. Stir them together until well combined and smooth.

  3. Gradually add the ½ cup of all-purpose flour (or your chosen alternative) to the wet ingredients. Stir until a thick, firm dough forms. It should be just slightly sticky.

  4. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. You can leave them as little mounds for a rustic look, or gently flatten them with the back of your spoon for thinner, crispier treats.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the treats feel dry to the touch. For crispier treats, you can turn off the oven after 20 minutes and leave the treats inside with the door slightly ajar to cool and harden further.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool completely on a wire rack before offering them to your dog. This is crucial for making sure they are firm and safe to eat.
