Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Turkey
  • 1 cup Uncooked White Rice
  • 1 cup Chopped Carrots
  • ½ cup Cooked Green Beans (trimmed and chopped)
  • ¼ cup Cooked Peas
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • ½ cup Water (for cooking rice)

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of uncooked white rice with ½ cup of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for approximately 15-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender. Set aside.
1 cup Uncooked White Rice, ½ cup Water (for cooking rice)
  2. While the rice is cooking, place 1 lb of ground turkey in a large skillet over medium heat. Break up the turkey with a spoon and cook until it is thoroughly browned and no pink remains, about 8-10 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.
    1 lb Ground Turkey
  3. To the skillet with the cooked turkey, add the chopped carrots, trimmed and chopped green beans, and peas. Stir well to combine with the turkey.
1 cup Chopped Carrots, ½ cup Cooked Green Beans (trimmed and chopped), ¼ cup Cooked Peas
  4. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the skillet. Continue to cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, for another 5-7 minutes, or until the carrots are tender-crisp and the vegetables are heated through.
    1 tbsp Olive Oil
  5. Once the rice is cooked and the turkey and vegetable mixture is ready, gently combine them in the skillet or a large mixing bowl. Stir until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  6. Allow the mixture to cool completely before serving to your dog. This is crucial to prevent burns.

Notes

Consult your veterinarian before introducing new food. If serving as a complete meal, adjust portions based on dog's size, age, and activity level. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
