  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup Valentine's Day M&M's or a mix of red, pink, and white candies
  • 1/4 cup Valentine's Day sprinkles heart-shaped or a mix of colors
Optional: mini pretzels or Chex cereal
  • 1/2 cup mini pretzels or Chex cereal for added crunch

Equipment

  • Large Bowl
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • - Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or wax paper

Method

  1. In a large bowl, place your 12 cups of popped popcorn. If you're using any optional additions like mini pretzels or Chex cereal, add them now to the popcorn and toss gently to combine. This creates the crunchy foundation for your Valentine Cupid Chow.
12 cups popped popcorn, 1/2 cup mini pretzels or Chex cereal
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each interval, until the chocolate and butter are completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat the chocolate, as it can seize.
1 cup white chocolate chips, 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips, 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  3. Once the chocolate mixture is smooth, stir in the light corn syrup and vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well incorporated and the glaze is glossy. The corn syrup will help create a slightly chewy texture and a beautiful sheen.
1/4 cup light corn syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  4. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the popcorn base in the large bowl. Using a large spoon or spatula, gently stir and fold the popcorn until it is evenly coated with the chocolate glaze. Ensure every kernel gets a delicious coating.
12 cups popped popcorn, 1 cup white chocolate chips, 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips, 1/4 cup unsalted butter, 1/4 cup light corn syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. Immediately after coating the popcorn, sprinkle in the Valentine's Day M&M's and the Valentine's Day sprinkles. Gently toss again to distribute the colorful candies and sprinkles throughout the chow. Work quickly, as the chocolate will begin to set.
    1/2 cup Valentine's Day M&M's, 1/4 cup Valentine's Day sprinkles
  6. Spread the Valentine Cupid Chow in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper. This prevents sticking and makes for easier cleanup. Allow it to cool and set completely at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or speed up the process by placing it in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes until firm.
  7. Once the Valentine Cupid Chow is set, break it apart into clusters and serve immediately. Enjoy the sweet, crunchy, and festive delight!

Notes

Properly stored, your Valentine Cupid Chow will stay fresh and maintain its delightful crunch for up to 5-7 days in an airtight container at room temperature.
