- In a medium-sized jar, airtight container, or bowl, add your 1/2 cup of rolled oats.1/2 cup rolled oats
- Pour in 1 cup of your preferred milk. Whether you choose creamy whole milk, light almond milk, or hearty oat milk, it will contribute to the final creamy texture.1 cup milk
- Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of chia seeds. These tiny powerhouses absorb liquid and help thicken the mixture, adding a delightful pudding-like consistency and a boost of fiber and omega-3s.1 tablespoon chia seeds
- Drizzle in 1 tablespoon of maple syrup or honey. This is where you can truly customize the sweetness. Start with the recommended amount, and you can always add a little more before serving if you prefer it sweeter.1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- Add 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. This is the star flavor of our Vanilla Overnight Oatmeal, imparting that warm, comforting aroma and taste. Don't skimp on the quality of your vanilla extract for the best flavor.1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Add a tiny pinch of salt. This crucial ingredient isn't to make the oatmeal salty, but rather to enhance and deepen all the other flavors, especially the sweetness of the maple syrup and the warmth of the vanilla.pinch salt
- Stir all the ingredients together until well combined. Ensure there are no clumps of oats or chia seeds stuck at the bottom.
- Cover your container tightly with a lid or plastic wrap. Place it in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, but ideally overnight. This allows the oats to soften completely and the chia seeds to swell, creating that signature thick and creamy texture.
- In the morning, give your Vanilla Overnight Oatmeal a good stir. If it’s too thick for your liking, you can add a splash more milk until it reaches your desired consistency. Now it’s ready for your favorite toppings!
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Texture may thicken over time; add a splash of milk before serving if needed.
